UFC 148 Results: Demian Maia Picks Up First Round TKO Victory After Dong Hyun Kim Injury

Demian Maia defeated Dong Hyun Kim by TKO (injury), 41 seconds of round one

It certainly wasn't the way Demian Maia expected to pick up a win in his welterweight debut, but he'll take it. Dong Hyun Kim was hurt on a Maia takedown and the bout was over just like that. The finish came in just 41 seconds.

Maia came straight out looking for a takedown. Kim landed a few hammerfists. Maia took his back and tried to drag him down. Kim looked for a judo throw but went down. And then it was just...over.There wasn't a tap, but it appeared that Kim got hurt on the takedown. Maia just let up immediately, then got up and celebrated.

Maia said in his post-fight interview that Kim landed awkwardly on his head and neck, so that might have caused the injury. I'm sure we'll find out later tonight, but it was an unfortunate turn of events for Kim.
