UFC 146 Results: Stefan Struve Armbars Lavar Johnson Early

Stefan Struve defeated Lavar Johnson via submission (armbar) at 1:05 of the first round

The fight between Stefan Struve and Lavar Johnson was clearly going to go one of two ways - a KO for Johnson or a submission for Struve. It was the latter. Johnson landed a couple of shots early that bloodied up Struve's lip, but Struve jumped guard against the fence and locked up an armbar immediately. The finish came at 1:05 of the first round.

Johnson came forward right away and landed a body shot followup up by an uppercut. Johnson pushed Struve against the cage but he got tied up. Struve pulled guard and locked up an armbar quickly. Johnson tried to punch him instead of pulling his arm out, and he tapped before he even went to the ground.

Struve was originally scheduled to face Mark Hunt on the card, but Hunt was forced to withdraw due to an injury and was replaced by Johnson on very short notice. Both men entered the bout on two-fight winning streaks.
