It looks like the guessing games are finally over. An ad in the new issue of UFC 360 (formerly UFC Magazine) announces that the new season of The Ultimate Fighter will be debuting on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9 p.m. ET. FX officials confirmed the news with Bloody Elbow.
UFC president Dana White was not quite as forthcoming when approached by MMA Junkie: "That day sounds good to me," was the only quote he gave.
TUF has struggled in two seasons on FX on Friday nights, drawing the worst ratings of its 16 seasons following 14 strong seasons on Spike TV where it aired on Thursdays from 2005-2011.
Season 17 will feature UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones coaching opposite Chael Sonnen. Sonnen will challenge Jones for the title on pay-per-view at UFC 158 in April, 2013.
