On MMA Uncensored Live a few days ago, UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping was up to his old tricks. He said that he had recently sparred with Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and now considered himself the "unofficial" SF champ. Generally Rockhold responds to insults with sharp retorts, but he didn't go at Bisping the way he has gone at Lorenz Larkin or Derek Brunson in the past. He just made it clear that they'll figure it out in the future:
@bisping that's an interesting take, I'll see you in the UFC soon my friend.
— Luke Rockhold (@LukeRockhold) November 30, 2012
Bisping (23-4) is currently scheduled to face off with Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC on FX 7 on January 19th. Rockhold (10-1) had been scheduled to defend his title against Lorenz Larkin in both November and January, but had to pull out of both due to injuries.
The status of Strikeforce's roster after their January 12th event is currently unknown, but it seems like they'll be brought over to the UFC. Could a Rockhold/Bisping fight be possible in 2013? With the status of UFC champ Anderson Silva up in the air right now, I'd say it could certainly happen at some point. And the trash talk could be pretty good for that matchup.
