Second up on Facebook for UFC 155, Featherweights Leonard Garcia and Max Holloway squared off. Garcia was originally set to face Cody McKenzie, but he was forced out due to injury and Hollway stepped up. Holloway opened up the fight establishing range with his kicks. Holloway landed a left hand early that dropped Garcia. Having trouble closing the distance, Leonard came in swinging with his patented arm punches. Garcia landed solid from a single collar tie then chased Hoolloway down to close the round.
Holloway and Garcia started trading punches again in the second. Holloway used his jab and straight punches well, before getting picked up by Garcia after a flying knee. Nothing happened on the ground before Holloway got back to his feet. Garcia pressure Hollaway on the feet, closing the distance with his hooks. Max landed some of his own, but got hit a lot too.
Both fighters looked winded going into the third, but came out kicking right when the bell sounded. Holloway started to find a rhythm, landing consistently when Garcia moved in. Halfway through the round and Garcia just walked forward swinging, eating counters from Holloway the whole way. Garcia clinched up and got the takedown. Leonard landed a knee as they got back to their feet. More trading on the feet with Garcia moving forward. A slip from Holloway allowed Garcia into his guard and Leonard picked him up for the slam just before the final bell.
Max Holloway picked up the split decision over Leonard Garcia (29-28 x 2, 28-29 )
