Three fighters who were forced off UFC On Fox 5 have been rescheduled for February's UFC 157. Lightweight TUF 15 winner Michael Chiesa fell ill just days before his scheduled fight with Marcus LeVesseur. The illness kept Chiesa from making his first appearance since winning The Ultimate Fighter tournament. Likewise, the Heavyweight match between TUF 10 runner up Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson fell flat after Johnson was injured.
MMA Viking announced Chiesa's fight against Anton Kuivanen Wednesday afternoon. UFC.com confirmed that and the rescheduling of Schaub vs. Johnson later that day:
Heavyweight power punchers Lavar "Big" Johnson and Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub have verbally agreed to fight at UFc 157. The bout was originally slated for UFC on FOX 5 in Seattle but scrapped the week before when Johnson was injured.
Plus, TUF Live winner Michael "Maverick" Chiesa has verbally agreed to face one of Europe’s best lightweights, Anton Kuivanen. Chiesa was also scheduled to fight on the Seattle card but forced to withdraw due to illness.
UFC 157 is coming up on February 23 out of the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. The main event will feature the first ever UFC WMMA fight as Ronda Rousey defends her Bantamweight title against Liz Carmouche. In the co-main event, Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida will battle for a potential shot at the Light Heavyweight title.
