Rory MacDonald is just over a week away from one of the biggest fights of his young career. On December 8, Rory will face off against former two-time division champion B.J. Penn at UFC On Fox 5. Coming off a 3 fight win streak, a win over Penn could put Rory into the top 10 of the Welterweight division.
That's more than enough for "Ares" to focus on, but when MMA Weekly asked him about a fight with Nick Diaz Rory was very open to the challenge:
I would fight him. (He comes back ) in February, and I might be ready to fight in like March or something like that. He might be my next fight after B.J., you never know how it works.
We’ll see, I’d love to fight him.
Diaz is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 143. He was suspended after the fight due to a failed drug test for marijuana metabolites. He's currently challenging the suspension via judicial review. Assuming that the review is unsuccessful, Diaz won't be able to fight until his suspension is lifted in February.
