While Georges St. Pierre had a thrilling return to the cage at UFC 154, the co-main event of the evening was plenty exciting in its own right. Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann were squaring off in a fight that was likely to produce the new number one contender at 170 pounds.
Here's how we called the action in our live blog:
Martin Kampmann vs. Johny Hendricks - Round 1 - Hendricks looks for the big punch but can't land flush. Huge punch by Hendricks and Kampmann is down! OH MY! Johny Hendricks wins by KO (punch), round 1.
Hendricks was impressive enough that there are now people calling for him to get the shot at Georges St. Pierre's welterweight crown despite reported plans that the UFC may be looking to put GSP in the cage against Anderson Silva in the near future.
Regardless of if he gets GSP next or someone else, there's a good argument for Hendricks as the most dangerous man at 170 pounds.
