Lyoto Machida is the early betting favorite against Dan Henderson

The early betting odds are in for Lyoto Machida vs. Dan Henderson, and the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion is the favorite, but by how much?

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Dan Henderson's knee injury completely changed the landscape of the light-heavyweight division. Jon Jones ended up fighting Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida lost his title shot for turning down a short-notice fight with Jones, and Chael Sonnen is pretty much routinely hanging around to get his own shot.

Dana White has already stated that Machida and Hendo would fight each other at a date to-be-determined. It will essentially determine the next title challenger, which would mean either a Machida rematch or Henderson needing an extra fight against Jon Jones. A couple of sports betting sites have listed the odds and it's unsurprisingly Machida as the favorite.

BestFightOdds takes the best lines for each fighter so the box you see right now will change as the lines shift and more sites post their numbers.

Certainly seems generous if you ask me for Machida to only be -220. Henderson will have ring rust on him plus Machida is the faster, technically superior fighter and probably the more accurate striker. I guess the H-Bomb is the great equalizer to any betting odds.

No news yet on when this fight is happening, but I'm of the opinion that these types of fights should be 5 rounds, which would mean some time in early 2013.
