Tonight at Bellator 76, top Lightweight Eddie Alvarez picked up a career changing TKO win. Going into the bout it was widely known that the fight would be the last on Eddie's BFC contract. He had lost his Bellator title to Michael Chandler last fall, but picked up a victory over Japanese submission star Shinya Aoki in the meantime. It was also no secret that he was being courted by the UFC. Alvarez had appeared on camera at a UFC event this spring next to Dana White.
And obviously Dana White was watching him win tonight. Shortly after the one round fight, Dana took to Twitter:
@ealvarezfight congrats Bro!!! Let's talk :)

Through his time as Bellator champion, Alvarez has been ranked as high as a top 5 Lightweight. Now we'll finally see if that high ranking was warranted.
The bout started off with a very high pace. Eddie rocked his opponent Patricky Freire early and did his best to get the quick finish. He opened up too much and the Pitbull was able to tag him back. Rocked, Alvarez clinched up to recover and the pace slowed. Then with less than 5 seconds on the clock, he landed a devastating head kick and got the stoppage with some ground and pound.
