Mike Russow defeats Jon Olav Einemo by Unanimous Decision. The judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27.
Mike Russow hit a single leg takedown to open the first round. Jon Olav Einemo locked him down to attempt a submission but Russow stood up. Russow attempted another takedown as Einemo stood up but was unsuccessful. He was able to land several lead right hands before another unsuccessful takedown. On his fourth attempt Einemo stepped aside and landed a combination. They exchanged knees to the body from the clinch. Russow pushed forward with punches before hitting another single leg. Russow is working from Einemo's guard and had to defend from a kimura when attempting to pass to half guard.
The second round saw Russow hit an early takedown and then do just enough from guard to keep the fight on the ground. He did do enough damage to bloody up Einemo's face but nothing super significant that would stop the fight. The fight remained on the ground for the entirety of the round.
The third round opened with another takedown from Mike Russow. Though he was put in several bad positions, he was able to defend the submissions well and maintain his posture. Herb Dean stood the fighters up after some inactivity but Russow against got the fight to the ground after eating several knees to the head from the clinch. The fight ended with Mike Russow standing over his bloodied opponent.
Mike Russow entered the fight 3-0 in the UFC and 14-1 overall. This is the biggest win of his career. Jon Olav Einemo's signing was met with a lot of fanfare but he's been unable to showcase why he's such a great fighter. He is now 0-2 in the UFC and 6-3 in his career.
