The prelims for UFC 133 on Spike TV fell into what you would call the "expected" range. An average of 1.4 million viewers tuned in to the event, topping out at 1.436 million during the third quarter hour. These numbers were good enough for a 1.0 household rating. The numbers place it in a tie for the 9th highest rating for Spike aired prelims, with the all time high being the UFC 126 prelims this February.
This past Saturday's prelims opened with Chad Mendes put on a less than crowd pleasing performance while dominating Rani Yahya. Matt Hamill fought what may be his last ever UFC bout in losing a second round TKO to Alexander Gustafsson. Yesterday it was announced that Hamill has retired from the sport.
UFC 134 takes place on August 27 and the prelim bouts from that event will be shown on Spike TV and will feature Paulo Thiago vs. David Mitchell and Thiago Tavares vs. Spencer Fisher.
