UFC 135 Prelims on Spike: Nick Ring vs. Tim Boetsch, Tony Ferguson vs. Aaron Riley

With a somewhat lackluster undercard bolstering September 24th's UFC 135 in Denver, it should be no surprise that Spike TV will yet again feature alums of The Ultimate Fighter on its prelim broadcast that night. MMA Junkie reports that Nick Ring vs. Tim Boetsch, and Tony Ferguson vs. Aaron Riley are the bouts that have been chosen for the one-hour broadcast, which airs live at 8PM Eastern.

Ring was a popular cast-member on the 11th season of TUF, but a knee injury forced him to bow out of the competition. Upon recovery, Ring was offered a UFC contract and has made the most of it, taking a unanimous (although controversial) decision over Riki Fukuda, and then dominating James Head in a submission victory at UFC 131 in June. Boetsch, on the other hand, has spent time in and out of the UFC refining his game without much prolonged success, but a recent move down to middleweight seems to have been for the best, as he absolutely thrashed Kendall Grove back in May, and sent the Hawaiian packing from the UFC.

TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson wasn't the most beloved cast-member on the show, due to some unfortunate comments he directed towards housemate Charlie Rader while inebriated, but his talent is undeniable. After easily plowing through the competition on the show, the the California resident made short work of Ramsey Nijem at the Finale, knocking him out in the first round. Riley could prove to be a tough test for any up and comer though, as he's a true veteran of the sport, having faced a veritable who's who of tough fighters over his career, including Robbie Lawler, Yves Edwards, Chris Lytle, and Spencer Fisher. Riley will be coming off a long layoff though, having been out of the Octagon since May of 2010 when he won a decision over Joe Brammer.
