Strikeforce Overeem vs. Werdum Results: Conor Heun Edges Magno Almeida

Conor Heun survived a vicious series of arm bar attempts from Magno Almeida to take a unanimous decision at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.

The first round saw some nice jiu jitsu work from both fighters as Heun went for an omaplata arm bar and showed some nice rubber guard off his back too. Heun held his right ankle behind Almeida's head with one hand and peppered him with punches with the other. Almeida survived the round, but it was clearly Heun's.

Almeida had his revenge in the second. Initially Heun was outscoring him on the feet. After getting taken down late in the second round, Almeida locked on an absolutely vicious arm bar attempt that had Heun desperately rolling and twisting to escape which he finally did, landing in what HDNet commentator Michael Schiavello memorably called the "butt sniff" position.

After some trading on the feet, Almeida pulled guard and immediately went for an arm bar. Heun fought free but moments later Almeida threatened with an anaconda choke attempt. When Heun broke free he attacked from top position with a vengeance, landing a succession of double hammer fists that landed with serious impact. Almeida went for a kimura but Heun quickly got free and the barrage continued. Almeida ended the fight trying for one last arm bar.
