The UFC press conference presented a study by firm HR&A Advisors on the economic impact of sanctioned mixed martial arts in the state of New York. The study projects MMA events to generate over $23 million annually. In addition, HR&A projects the creation of 212 new jobs in the state. Other claims from the study:

  • The UFC alone would generate $16 million in revenue and 138 jobs, assuming one show at Madison Square Garden and another at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo.
  • UFC events would drive $1.4 million in visitor spending in both New York City and Buffalo.
  • Non-UFC MMA events would generate $6.7 million dollars in revenue and 75 new jobs.
  • Based on data from California, Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylania, New York state would host 70 total MMA events per year.
