Phil Baroni fans were hoping for one more blaze of glory from the New York Bad Ass but The Ultimate Fighter veteran Brad Tavares brutally beat Baroni with a combination of kicks and punches at 4:20 of the first round.

Baroni hit Tavares early in the round with some hard body shots, then he forced Tavares to the ground and threatened with a choke but Tavares escaped. Baroni looked noticably diminished after Tavares got back to his feet. Baroni then caught Tavares with a knee to the groin from a clinch.

After the break Tavares was all business, dangerous business. He caught Baroni with a right hand, then a switch kick to the head that staggered the NYBA. Tavares quickly went in for the kill and beat down Baroni with a series of punches against the cage.

Baroni was still staggering when he stood up to hear the official decision.

Baroni, who began his first UFC stint in 2001 at UFC 30, has not fought in over a year. He lost to Amir Sadollah at UFC 106. That fight was contested at 170lbs. Baroni is hoping he will have more endurance at 185lbs.

Tavares, who just turned 23 on December 21st, is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter's 11th season where he made the semi-finals. He beat Seth Baczynski on the Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale in June. Prior to TUF, Tavares built a 4-0 record in his native Hawaii.
