The UFC today announced the long-rumored UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin event, scheduled for July 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a heavyweight title fight between champ Brock Lesnar and interim champ Shane Carwin serving as the main event. UFC president Dana White discussed the bout in the press release:
When people wonder why the heavyweights capture the imagination of all fight fans, it’s because of guys like Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin," said UFC President Dana White.
