Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery - Live Results and Commentary

Alistair_overeem_small_medium As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery.  The live blog will start with the beginning of the Showtime broadcast (at 10PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.

As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.

The broadcast is live.  First fight up shortly.

Antwain Britt vs. Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante - Round 1 - Feijao with a left hand counter early and Britt jabs in return.  Britt wading in with power shots and they lock up.  Both men landing some shots in the clinch with Feijao getting the better of it with some knees.  Britt throwing some heavy shots but they're mostly blocked.  Now a one-two lands for him.  Britt misses with some uppercuts and now Feijao with a nice knee from the clinch. Right hand from Feijao and Britt's legs go rubbery, a flurry of follow up shots and Britt goes down!  The fight is over!  Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante wins by TKO (punches), round 1.

Kevin Randleman vs. Roger Gracie - Round 1 - Leg kick from Randleman.  Randleman winging some heavy punches but missing.  Right hand from Gracie lands.  He's throwing really plodding strikes.  Knee lands by Gracie.  Jab from Gracie lands.  Right hand by Gracie lands hard and he's actually the one landing the better punches so far.  As they work the clinch Gracie lands a few knees and starts looking for the guillotine choke.  They almost go to the ground but Randleman scrambles back up.  Gracie using his reach to work the jab. Randleman throws three power shots but doesn't really land and the round ends.  10-9 Gracie on my card.  Round 2 - Pair of body shots from Randleman land very hard.  Gracie landing some hard jabs and Randleman starts trying to get away and eats a few more punches.  Again as they clinch Gracie is looking for the guillotine.  Knee from Gracie puts Randleman down!  Gracie jumps on top of him in mount.  Randleman trying to spin and they're in north-south, back to mount, arm triangle is escaped by Randleman and he gives his back.  Body triangle from Gracie and he's looking for the rear naked choke.  The choke is in and Randleman taps.  Roger Gracie wins by submission (rear naked choke), round 2.

Ronaldo "Jacare" de Souza vs. Joey Villasenor - Round 1 - Jacare shoots and Villasenor sprawls.  Jacare with the takedown.  Now some ground and pound from half-guard.  Jacare in mount landing brutal punches but Villasenor escapes out the back door.  Back to standing and it's Jacare landing the better strikes before getting another takedown.  Jacare with some huge ground and pound now.  They're back to standing and Jacare with big strikes before a slam takedown back to half guard.  Villasenor is getting completely outclassed here.  Villasenor escapes the kimura attempt and the round ends.  Easy 10-9 for Jacare.  Round 2 - Right hand counter by Jacare lands hard.  Jacare with a power double and he's right back on top.http://www.sbnation.com/admin/entries/edit/1237440?community_id=117&type=Story  Villasenor explodes back to standing and lands an uppercut counter to a takedown.  Jacare does get it back to the ground and lands some punches.  Villasenor escapes again and is back to standing.  Villasenor starting to land some punches now. Left hand lands for Jacare and a double leg to get back to the ground.  Back to standing again and Villasenor trying to do some work but the round ends. Closer round but I'd still go 10-9 Jacare.  Round 3 - Right hand lands solid from Villasenor.  Jacare bleeding from the nose now but he lands a hard punch and then can't complete the takedown.  Villasenor is starting to land a little more as Jacare gets tired.  Right hand from Villasenor. Jacare can't get the takedown again.  Right hand from Jacare and a takedown.  Jacare doing damage from the top and this fight is very one sided yet the announcers are calling it close.  Awful stand-up from the ref, Villasenor tries to land a few strikes but gets taken back down.  The round ends and it should be a lopsided decision win for Villasenor.  30-27 on my card, I could even see 30-26.  Official Scorecards: 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 all for Jacare Souza.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva vs. Andrei Arlovski - Round 1 - Silva with an inside leg kick and Arlovski with a clean right hand.  Leg kick lands again.  Left hand lands for Silva.  Jab by Arlovski lands now.  Left hook lands for Silva and Andrei takes it.  More leg kicks from Silva.  Nice counter by Silva and he's winning the exchanges early.  Right hand and a left both land flush for Silva and Arlovski is still standing.  Silva lands as they break from a clinch.  Silva with a single leg.  Diving punch lands for Silva.  Arlovski just doesn't look right.  He's flat and throwing much wider punches than normal.  The round ends and it was a clear 10-9 for Silva.  Round 2 - Silva continues to counter whenever Arlovski throws.  Right hand for Andrei lands finally.  Right hand by Silva lands hard.  Arlovski trying to work some dirty boxing and they're restarted in the center of the cage.  Arlovski prevents the takedown.  Again as they're clinched up they're restarted in the center of the cage.  High kick from Arlovski blocked and Andrei with a low kick and three solid punches.  Arlovski with a right hand and an uppercut. Left hand for Arlovski again, I feel like with the announcers ignoring it that he's not actually doing any work.  I actually think Arlovski may have won that round given Silva only landing one sharp punch.  Round 3 - Two jabs from Arlovski and a low kick.  They clinch up against the cage and Silva lands a few short body shots.  They trade right hands.  Right hand lands for Andrei.  A few punches land for Silva and that makes Andrei back up.  WIth half a round left they're restarted in the center of the ring.  Two punches land for Arlovski.  Takedown from Silva and that may win him the fight.  Silva posturing up and landing a few punches.  Arlovski stands back up and with 20 seconds he's likely on his way to a loss. The round ends and I scored it for Silva to give him the 29-28 scorecard.  Official Scorecards: 29-28 across the board for Antonio Silva.  Antonio Silva wins by unanimous decision.

Brett Rogers vs. Alistair Overeem - Round 1 - Overeem misses a couple punches, they briefly clinch with no damage for either man.  Leg kick from Overeem.  And another.  And another.  Left hand from Rogers.  He goes off balance and goes down.  Overeem gets on top of him and is in side control.  Overeem with some elbows to the body.  Rogers tries to get up but almost ends up in a guillotine.  Overeem opending up and Rogers is trying to get up.  Overeem landing a huge flurry here and the fight is over.  Overeem was just far too strong for him and once Rogers was on his back he had no way to get back up.  Alistair Overeem wins by TKO (strikes), round 1.

For those interested, I will be on Sporting News Radio to talk about the evening's action at 12:25am ET.
