UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez Live Results and Analysis

Ufc_121_poster_2_mediumAs with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results and commentary for UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Spike broadcast (9 p.m. ET) and continue through the pay-per-view broadcast (10 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.

In addition to a huge main event between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and number one contender Cain Velasquez the card features top to bottom action including Jake Shields' UFC debut against Martin Kampmann and Tito Ortiz returning to action against former Ultimate Fighter student Matt Hamill.

As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.

The Spike TV broadcast is live. First fight up shortly.

Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor - Round 1 - Lawlor charges and eats a few uppercuts from the clinch but Lawlor pushes him into the cage. Lawlor still trying to drive for the takedown. Lawlor with knees to the legs now. Lawlor does manage to get the takedown now. Cote with elbows from his back. Lawlor being patient and Cote preventing damage so far. Right hand lands and it's the first good shot for Lawlor. Now Lawlor finds a little space to throw punches. Now Lawlor passes to side control. Cote regains half guard and Lawlor staring to land with more regularity. Lawlor with an arm triangle and Cote grabs the fence to get out. Lawlor goes for a rear naked choke, Cote rolls him and lands a few punches before the round ends. Cote totally cheated to get out of that choke. 10-9 Lawlor.

Round 2 -Cote goes southpaw and Lawlor hits him with a leg kick. Minor note: Big John McCarthy is reffing the fight. Lawlor manages to clinch Cote against the cage. Cote tried for a thai clinch and got taken down. Lawlor working elbows to the head and body. Now Tom looking to pass again. Lawlor landing against the cage still. Cote manages to escape back to standing but they're still clinched against the cage. Lawlor drops again and gets the takedown. Cote trying to lock in a kimura. Cote regains guard and Lawlor landing some more punches. They're stood back up with 40 seconds left. Superman punch by Cote. Uppercut by Cote misses and Lawlor lands a straight. 10-9 Lawlor again.

Round 3 - Lawlor with a quick takedown and he's looking for the arm triangle but just ends up passing to side control. Some punches by Lawlor including one to the back of the head.  Neck crank by Lawlor and he passes to mount. Cote with a hip escape to get half guard. Cote almost escapes from a kimura to standing but he's still on his back with Lawlor in the full guard. They're stood back up for no real reason and Lawlor just takes him right back down. Lawlor is just pounding away and owning this fight. 10-9 Lawlor again, not even a close fight.

Official scorecards: 30-27 across the board. Tom Lawlor wins by unanimous decision.

Court McGee vs. Ryan Jensen - Round 1 - Jensen avoiding a few takedown attempts and landing a hard left hand. Jensen with the takedown now and he's in half guard. Jensen with some big shots but McGee manages to stand back up. Nice jab by Jensen. McGee just doesn't have a lot of pop on his punches and he can't get the takedown so the much bigger Jensen may have a lot of success here. Big punches by Jensen. Court with two nice punches but they don't seem to do much so Jensen lands a left. Overhand right by Court. McGee just ducks under a high kick. McGee with a right hand that lands and a huge leg kick from Jensen so Court hits him back with the same. The round ends and Jensen won it but he's starting to look tired.

Round 2 - McGee starting to land leg kicks and Jensen is starting to look too much at loading up on his right hand. Hard left hand by McGee and some more leg kicks so Jensen dives for a takedown that he can't get. McGee is outworking him now. Jensen with a takedown but McGee stands right back up and lands some punches. Right hand by Jensen. Left hook by McGee and a nice leg kick by Jensen. Jab to the body by McGee and a right hand. Right hand by Jensen is a little short. McGee is coming forward and forcing Jensen to go backward. Right hand by McGee. McGee with a left and a right hand and a takedown into side control as the round ends. 10-9 McGee.

Round 3 - Huge left by Mcgee and a big takedown. McGee in top now landing elbows. Full mount now by McGee. McGee opening up with the elbows. McGee with an arm triangle and Jensen has to tap out! TREMENDOUS comeback by McGee! Court McGee wins by submission (arm triangle), round 3.

Brendan Schaub vs. Gabriel Gonzaga - Round 1- Right hand by Schaub and a leg kick by Gonzaga. Schaub catches a leg kick and lands a hard right hand. Another big right hand by Schaub. Schaub is really landing the harder punches here. Gonzaga is really plodding forward and eating lefts and rights for his trouble. Gonzaga shoots for a takedown and can't get it so gets smacked with a right hand. Schaub is getting in and out very well here and not taking much damage beyond the occasional leg kick.Another right hand after a body kick by Gonzaga. Right hand by Schaub wobbles Gonzaga. Two hard jabs by Schaub and a right hand that drops Gonzaga as the bell rings. 10-9 Schaub.

Round 2 - Schaub is landing again still but Gonzaga with a few hard leg kicks. Leg kick by Gonzaga and he loses his balance so Schaub lands some hard punches. Schaub constantly forcing Gonzaga to go backward and it's allowing him to really work the jab. They're trading against the cage and Schaub is really unloading. Gonzaga fired back but Schaub did the much better work. Gonzaga with a counter right. The round ends and it wasn't as dominant as the first but it was still 10-9 Schaub.

Round 3 - Schaub with a right and a takedown attempt but Gonzaga sprawls beautifully. A much slower round through the first 90 seconds. Schaub landing a few punches and a nice body kick by Gonzaga. They trade jabs. Hard leg kick by Gonzaga. Very slow round here. Now they slug it out as the round ends. Gonzaga had just caught an off balance Schaub and almost locked in a choke. 10-9 Schaub but I could see the round for Gonzaga. No way Schaub lost the decision though.

Official Scorecards: 30-27 across the board. Brendan Schaub wins by unanimous decision.

Matt Hamill vs. Tito Ortiz - Round 1 - Head kick by Ortiz lands and Hamill is on the retreat. Body kick by Ortiz and Hamill uses it to take him down. Tito manages to stand up. Body kick by Tito again. Head kick by Tito is blocked. Ortiz with a mouse under his eye. Leg kick by Tito. Tito keeps landing the body kick. Jab by both men. Jab, head kick combo by Ortiz. Nice right by Matt. Right hand gets through for Tito. Spinning backfist by Tito is blocked. Uppercut by Hamill lands now. Tito coming in with a combo and then a stiff jab. Overhand right by Tito. Hamill with a right after the bell but he is deaf, so you can't blame him. 10-9 Ortiz.

Round 2 - Hamill using leg kicks and a nice right hand now. Body sht by Tito. Head kick and a punch from Matt. Left hand by Tito and a leg kick by Hamill. Tito shoots and it's stuffed. Ortiz with a knee to the body in the clinch. Body shot by Hamill lands hard. Very competitive round for the first two minutes. Jab by Hamill. Knee by Ortiz again. Leg kick by Hamill again. Leg kick by Tito now. Takedown by Hamill now. Ortiz trying to punch off his back. Hamill with some punches and hammerfists. Ortiz looks for an armbar but Hamill avoids and is punching again. Nice punches by Matt here. Ortiz dives for a kneebar and Hamill passes to side control. The round ends and it was 10-9 Hamill to even it up.

Round 3 - Jab by Hamill is solid to start the round. Hook by Hamill. Tito with a nice punch now. One-two combo glances for Tito. Body kick by Ortiz. Jab by Hamill is very solid. Right hand by Hamill. Body kick by Tito. Tito misses on the takedown attempt. Hamill throwing but not landing. Hamill with a takedown with 90 seconds left. Hamill opening up from the top. Big elbows by Matt now. Hamill making it clear he won this fight with the ground and pound. 10-9 Hamill.

Official Scorecards: 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27 all for Matt Hamill. Matt Hamill wins by unanimous decision.

Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago - Round 1 - Paulo with a jab and Diego tries to come forward. Right hand by Diego. Jab by both men. Left hook by Thiago. Diego shoots and gets caught in a headlock and eats some knees. Diego with some knees to the body in the clinch and they're back to distance. Leg kick by Diego. Diego throws punches and Thiago takes him down and lands some punches now. Diego tries to get to his feet and almost gets caught in a d'arce choke. Right hand by Diego lands. Left hook by Diego. Diego looking for the takedown and Thiago unloads punches. Diego lands an uppercut and the bell rings. 10-9 Thiago.

Round 2 - Thiago unloads with a flurry and Diego tries to fire back but got the worst of it. Diego manages to get a takedown and is in half guard. Thiago working for a kimura. Thiago lands an elbow to the back of the head that forces a brief stop of the action. Now Thiago back to the kimura and Diego escapes and lands some ground and pound. Thiago sweeps and gets up and Diego carries him across the cage and slams him and unloads with punches. Diego getting very busy with his punches.They get up and Thiago throws a headkick that is blocked. 10-9 Diego.

Round 3 - Thiago looking exhausted and he tries for the takedown but Diego turns over on top of him. Now Paulo looking for the kimura from the bottom but Diego avoids and lands an elbow. Diego looking to take the back now. Body triangle now. Diego landing big punches now. Diego punching to the back and Paulo is trying to turn over and now Diego is in mount. Again Thiago gives up the back. Diego slips off and as he charges back after Thiago who had slipped down he eats an upkick. Diego takes the back again and is landing punches. Paulo locks up a choke briefly as Diego slips off but Diego escapes and is back on top. Huge right hand and some elbows by Diego. Diego back to mount and he is firing away as the round ends. 10-9 Diego for the win on my card.

Official Scorecards: 30-26, 29-28 and 29-28. Diego Sanchez wins by unanimous decision. What judge scored a 30-26 card?

Martin Kampmann vs. Jake Shields - Round 1 - Body kick by Shields. Right hand by Shields and he tries to clinch up. Shields with the single leg now and he gets him down. Jake passes to side control. Elbow from the bottom by Kampmann. Shields is really trying hard to pass out of half guard and he is quickly into mount. Kampmann with a great escape back to his feet. Kampmann working knees in the clinch. Shields with another takedown but Kampmann manages to stand up. Now Kampmann finally manages to get out of the clinch and they're at distance. Jab by Shields. Leg kicks by Shields. Shields has shot a few times  but is having trouble getting it to the ground. Still a 10-9 round for Jake.

Round 2 - Kampmann turns Shields against the cage and lands a big knee that drops Shields. Shields tries to push forward as Kampmann is trying to lock a choke. Shields manages to get the takedown though. Shields passes to side control. Almost a pass to mount but Kampmann gets up. Back to standing now and Shields looks tired and hurt. Another big knee. Another takedown by Shields. Full mount but Kampmann gets back to his feet. 10-9 Kampmann.

Round 3 - Kampmann coming out now throwing leg kicks. Head kick by Kampmann after he avoids the takedown. Kampmann landing knees to the body and Shields has nothing left in the tank. Shields tries for the takedown and ends up eating knees to the body by Kampmann. Now Shields is looking for the takedown again. Kampmann rolls him and is looking for a choke. Kampmann on top grinding his elbow into the face. Shields turns into the top as Kampmann goes for the choke. Shields on top now in side control. Shields takes the back with a body triangle. Shields landing elbows and the fight ends. 10-9 Shields I guess but could see it going either way.

Official scorecards: 29-28 Kampmann, 30-27 Shields, 29-28 Shields. Jake Shields wins by split decision.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez - Round 1 - Lesnar charges in and Cain is throwing hands and Lesnar with a knee.  Right hand by Lesnar. Cain firing punches and Lesnar with a big takedown but Cain gets back to his feet. Elbows to the side of the head by Cain. Brock has him pushed against the cage. Brock dropping down for a double leg and he gets it but Cain stands right back up. Cain manages to get away. Jab by Cain and they're trading hard.  Jab by Lesnar. Cain takes Brock down now and has is back. Lesnar stands back up. Lesnar misses a takedown and he's stumbing around. Cain hits him hard and Lesnar is hurt.  Cain is on top in side control. Cain landing big punches nows.  Cain with knee on belly and he's throwing punches. Lesnar is looking done here.  He gets up and eats punches and goes back down. Velasquez landing punches and the fight is stopped! Cain Velasquez wins by TKO (punches), round 1. INCREDIBLE! Velasquez just owned that entire fight.
