When people like me talk about how great Georges St. Pierre is, we always cite his two utterly dominating wins over Matt Hughes as evidence of his tremendous wrestling. Given Thiago Alves' demolition of Hughes on Saturday, is it time to re-evaluate Georges St. Pierre?? Clearly he deserves a lot of credit for those wins and his performances in each, but my confidence that he will outclass Jon Fitch has been shaken. What do Georges St. Pierre's wins over Matt Hughes really mean now that we've seen Alves destroy him?
I think Georges St. Pierre is in for a real fight at UFC 87. He will be facing the best and most motivated Jon Fitch ever, and I no longer think this will look anything like GSP-Hughes.
