One of the biggest questions for the industry going forward is the face of UFC television after The Ultimate Fighter. We know there are plans for some kind of weekly fighting presence starting in 2010, and the question is how to put together a show that accomplishes the same thing TUF does (hyping big fight, making new stars) while adding in things that it doesn't (regular hype of lots of upcoming fights, interviews, and promotion of undercards).
According to this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, written by Dave Meltzer (order here), there is talk of a seasonal show of tournaments. New stars would compete in tournaments within a given weight class that proceed on a weekly basis in order to make new stars. They could combine this with interviews, hype packages, etc to promote their upcoming PPV shows weekly as well.
I'm sure this is just one of many ideas to come for The UFC's TV future.
