Reviews Are In, Hopes Are High

Well everyone from Dennis Kang to the IFL's Garub Shamus seems to think the Fertitta Brothers' acquisition of PRIDE will be good for the sport, even UFCJunkie belatedly realized what I pointed out yesterday -- Dana White is intent on unifying the rules -- so long soccer kicks, hello elbows!

But the most fun commentary has been the posts outlining the dream matches we can now look forward to.

Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun put together this list -- click his name to see his excellent commentary on each fight :

* Chuck "Iceman" Liddell vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
  • Denis Kang vs. Georges St. Pierre
  • Sean Sherk vs. Takanori Gomi
  • Rich Franklin vs. Paulo Filho
  • Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson
  • Tito Ortiz vs. Wanderlei Silva

And ProphetFighting had an even more interesting post -- which fighters should move to which promotion. Great way to revive flagging careers, just ask Frank Trigg.

Andrei Arlovski to PRIDE

Josh Barnett to UFC

Matt Hughes to PRIDE

Takanori Gomi to UFC

Jeff Monson to PRIDE

Phil Baroni to UFC

Tim Sylvia to PRIDE

Butterbean to the WWE

The only I have to add to this is, let's not get carried away. I'll believe this deal is actually happening when I see the first PRIDE vs UFC MMA SuperBowl. Until then, it's all Santa Claus talk.
