Griffin/Tibau On for UFC 81

The Superbowl Saturday show matchups are coming together.  After yesterday's announcement of Lesnar/Mir the Fight Network is reporting that Tyson Griffin will face Gleison Tibau:

Representatives from Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts have confirmed UFC lightweight contender Tyson Griffin will collide with Brazilian Gleison Tibau at UFC 81 on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

An emerging superstar on the 155-pound scene, Griffin (10-1, 3-1 UFC) has reeled off consecutive wins - over previously unbeaten Thiago Tavares and Clay Guida - since suffering his only professional loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 67 in February. The lightweight powerhouse holds a TKO victory over Duane Ludwig and remains the only man to defeat current WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber.

Tibau (15-4, 3-1 UFC), a product of the American Top Team, will enter the bout on a four-fight winning streak. He handed Terry Etim his first defeat in September, as he cruised to a unanimous decision win over the Englishman at UFC 75. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, Tibau has earned seven of his 15 victories by submission.

As much of a mess as the Lightweight Title picture has become it is good to see that the UFC isn't running away from the division as they did in the past.  This is going to be a really good battle, and one that I'm going to be looking forward to.
