This Week's MMA Schedule: November 25 - Dec 1, 2007

While compiling this week's MMA cards, I came to the realization of just how huge mixed martial arts has become. In a week without any UFC, Elite XC or FEG mega cards, there's still more than enough great action to satisfy the most rabid MMA fan.

I'll break down the action and highlight the best of this week's MMA from across the globe. I'll also update the card information as it becomes available, in my daily posts.

This Week's Schedule

Read the full post to see a breakdown of today's action, taking place mostly in Japan.

Hatsu Hioki returns to Nagoya in an attempt to redeem himself in front of the hometown fans. Hioki is coming off of two straight losses and needs to dispatch TUF veteran Brian Geraghty in quick order to get his career back on track. Cristiano Kaminishi is a heavyweight prospect to watch, keep an eye out for him.

Kingdom of Grapple Live: November 25, 2007  in Tokyo Japan (Shinjuku FACE)

  • Katsuya Inoue (15-5-1) vs. Shigetoshi Iwase (7-9-1)
  • Hikaru Sato (17-17-3) vs. Toshiyuki Sato (0-0-0)

My Japanese translation skills prevent me from listing the full card, which includes matches and tournaments in various formats. This event is sponsored by Broad Media Casting Co. Ltd. to celebrate the 1st anniversary of their popular MMA website.

The event is a collaboration of sorts with representative fighters from Pancrase, DEEP, GCM, Smack Girl and other organizations all lending their support.

The two bouts I listed are the only one's with fighters that I'm familiar with. Inoue being a Pancrase standout and Hikaru Sato the cosplaying weirdo is taking on a pro wrestler.

  • Eiji Saitou vs. Kouji Oda
  • Kenji vs. Yuta Yasunaga
  • TAG vs. Motohiro Takenawa
  • M-06 Sakurai vs. Osuka Ayazuka
  • Shingo Makita vs. Yoshiki Ueda
  • Sakagami vs. Koutarou Ogawa

  • Petr Ondruš (2-1-0) vs. Peter Kirkegaard (0-1-0)
  • Václav Přibyl (4-2-0) vs. Peter Sluka (0-4-0)

  • Bohumil Lungrik (2-4-0) vs. Otto Knudsen
  • Pavel Botka (3-5-0) vs. Radovan Kuča (1-2-0)
  • Jaroslav Poborský (1-1-0) vs. Morten Djursaa (2-0-0)
  • Tomáš Kučera vs. Amin El Allali
  • Pavel Bechtold vs. Jakub Šatava
  • Radek Veřmiřovský vs. Nicolas Mandelier
  • Přemysl Rozum (0-1-0) vs. Filip Čech

You'll have to excuse my complete lack of knowledge about any of these fighters. I did my best to find records for the combatants, but the MMA scene in the Czech Republic is not my forte. I'm just happy to know that they have MMA there.
