UFC On Fuel 8 results: Yushin Okami pulls off split decision over Hector Lombard

The top 10 middleweights battled tonight at UFC On Fuel 8. Okami was able to work Lombard on the ground for the first two, but gave up the third after getting rocked. It was still enough to win the decision.

Middleweight Hector Lombard came out pressuring Yushin Okami early. Moving forward trying to land the big shot. It left him open for the takedown from Okami though. He got back up quickly, but he didn't last long before Yushin took him down again. Lombard back to his feet, but he gave up the round.

The two top 185ers stayed on their feet for the first half of the second round. As is his wont, Lombard sacrificed output looking for the power counter. While he waited, Okami steadily landed his jab and straight right. Okami shot for a single and got the takedown. He advanced from half-guard to mount and landed plenty of ground strikes. Okami clearly winning this fight.

Lombard opens up the 3rd round winging punches. He hurt Okami with wild punches. Okami gave up the takedown and Lombard took half-guard. Okami eventually rolls and escapes to attack for the single. He got what he wanted there which was to slow the action and survive. It worked for him. He gave up the final round, but he was safe after taking the first two handily.

Yushin Okami beat Hector Lombard by split decision (29-28 x 2, 28-29).
