The top of the preliminary card featured two impressive finishes from T.J. Grant and Ryan Bader. It also had that fight with Clay Guida.

The UFC On Fox 6 prelims continued on FX with the top for fights of the preliminary card. Although Guida vs. Hioki severely slowed down the action, it still featured a few exciting fights.

T.J. Grant (20-5) vs. Matt Wiman (15-7)

Grant's first round KO of Wiman earned him his fourth consecutive win. Twice in their single round fight, Grant managed to drop his opponent. The second time he followed up with ground and pound and got the stop with only 9 seconds left before the bell.

Grant has been quietly moving up the ranks and is now 7-3 in the UFC and undefeated as a Lightweight with four fights. Either Jim Miller or Rafael dos Anjos make a lot of sense for his next fight. Wiman dropped to 9-5 in the UFC. Evan Dunham would be a good match for him, who's also coming off a loss to Grant.

Clay Guida (30-13) vs. Hatsu Hioki (26-6-2)

Guida made his Featherweight debut in a performance that probably didn't win him many new fans. He was unable to land much of anything significant on the feet. Then when he got it to the ground, the best he could do was avoid getting caught by Hioki's sweeps and submission attempts. The lone impressive technique he landed was a big slam to open up the second round. Nevertheless, he picked up two judges scored cards and the W.

Despite the controversial nature of the decision, a win over Hioki is a significant notch on Guida's belt. Chad Mendes would be a good fight for him after Mendes fights Gamburyan at UFC 157. Hioki's now dropped his second fight in a row and is 2-2 in the UFC. His .500 record belies his talent as an elite FW, however. The loser of Cub Swanson vs. Dustin Poirier would be a good next fight for him.

Pascal Krauss (11-1) vs. Mike Stumpf (11-4)

While Stumpf did land a few solid shots, this fight was essentially all Krauss. His length and striking acumen were too much for Stumpf to overcome. The only time Krauss appeared to struggle was after an ill-conceived takedown in the second round. Once he returned to his feet, he comfortably secured the unanimous decision.

The win brought him up to 2-1 as a UFC Welterweight. The defeat marked Stumpf's second loss in as many UFC fights. It's unlikely he'll get another chance to redeem himself.

Ryan Bader (15-3) vs. Vladimir Matyushenko (26-7)

In one of the most impressive victories of the night, Bader picked up the submission of the night award for his first round guillotine of Matyushenko. After catching Matyushenko with a lunging left hook, Bader locked up a front head lock. When his first attempt at the choke failed, he adjusted and got the tap at 50 seconds. Rogan touted the submission as the fastest in the Light Heavyweight division's history, which it was...kinda.

The submission improved Bader's record to 8-3 in the UFC and helped him recover from the devastating KO loss to Machida in his last fight. He called out Shogun Rua after the fight, and it's a solid one to make right now. Matyushenk dropped to 7-5 in the UFC and now has two consecutive losses. At age 42, it might be time for him to hang up the gloves.
