UFC Fight Night 26 results recap: John Howard vs. Uriah Hall

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

This fight was the one dark mark on an otherwise spectacular card, check out what it meant for the two Middleweights.

In the second fight of UFC Fight Night 26, Middleweight Uriah Hall was matched up against late replacement John Howard. After three rounds, Howard was awarded the split decision to pick up his first UFC win since 2010. Hall fell to 0-2 after coming out of the TUF 17 house with all the hype Dana White could muster.

In a night of great fights, this was the lone disappointment. Hall opened up with a takedown and then the fight got worse. It was a clinch and positional control fight for the majority of the 15 minute affair with both men hesitant to throw strikes at range. The only excitement occurred in the final seconds when Hall went for a somersault kick and Howard responded with a diving punch.

What was the high point of the fight?

Pretty sure it was Dana White's tweet following the bout

Where do they go from here?

It was far from a great fight, but Howard got exactly what he needed Saturday night and that was a mark in the "win" column. He lost his last 3 in his prior UFC run before going 4-0 in the regionals. It wasn't a great win but he got it and will get another chance in the Octagon, most likely in the Welterweight division where he competed before.

This was probably the end of Hall's UFC career. he went 0-2 in consecutive lackluster fights with one against a former 170 lber. Regardless of the attention he garnered for spectacular finishes on TUF 17, he's proven to be a talent the organization can't rely on to perform.

Watch it now, never, or later?

You'll have to hate yourself a lot to willingly watch this fight after knowing the outcome. Don't do it. Unless you're into that.
