UFC Fight Night 32 results recap: Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson

Chris Trotman

Belfort handed Hendo his first ever career loss to strikes in the Fight Night main event. Look back at how it happened and what it means for both fighters.

In the main event of UFC Fight Night 32, Vitor Belfort blasted Dan Henderson with a left uppercut then a left head kick to win by KO at just 1:17 of round 1. Since returning to the UFC in 2009, Belfort has gone 6-2 against a very respectable strength of competition with his only losses coming to champions Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

The first minute of the fight went pretty slow with both men obviously wary and respectful of their opponent's power. Then, Henderson lunged in and got caught by a big uppercut from Belfort and went to his knees. Henderson looked to regain his feet while Belfort fired punches. Once Henderson got both feet planted, Vitor let loose a big head kick that sent Hendo to the mat and referee Dan Miragliotta in to stop the fight.

What was the high point of the fight?

The uppercut that started the finishing sequences. After a slow but tense start, that punch floored Henderson in a moment that grabbed every viewers' attention.

Where do they go from here?

UFC president Dana White made Belfort's path clear. Barring any strange occurrence, he'll face the winner of Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva II at UFC 168.

Henderson's next opponent is unclear at this point. He told White that he has every intention of sticking with the UFC following this being the last fight on his UFC contract. White intends to discuss it with him in the coming weeks. Assuming he re-signs, it's clear that Henderson needs a drop in level of competition after his last three bouts.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Go watch it. Even if you're critical of Belfort's TRT use, it was a fantastic finish for the highlight reels. You want to see this one.
