In the opening main card bout of UFC 161, heavyweight Shawn Jordan (15-4, 3-1 UFC) needed just 59 seconds to finish Pat Barry (8-6, 5-6 UFC) by TKO. After some heavy kicks, Jordan came in and landed an uppercut that stunned Barry. He followed it up with another hard shot that sent Barry to the mat, where "The Savage" finished him with a barrage of lefts to the face.
It was Jordan's second straight win and his third overall in the UFC. All three wins have come by TKO. Barry is now just 2-4 in his last six, and has been finished in all six of his UFC losses. Jordan picked up a $50,000 check for knockout of the night.
What was the high point of the fight?
The finish. The uppercut that Jordan caught him with was vicious, as was the followup shot. The flip Jordan did after the win was pretty cool too.
Where do they go from here?
The win was huge for Jordan, as he has now established himself in the division. He could face any number of guys the next time out, but I'd personally like to see him matched up with Matt Mitrione.
Barry apparently suffered a broken orbital bone, so he might be out for a while. When he comes back, it's tough to figure out what they'll do with him. If Ben Rothwell loses to Brandon Vera, it might be a good idea to set him up with Barry.
Watch now, later, or never?
Now. This was the only super-exciting fight on the main card, and it's only 59 seconds of your time.
