UFC 160 results recap: Pyle vs. Story, Bermudez vs. Holloway

Esther Lin/MMA Fighting

A brief recap of Mike Pyle vs. Rick Story and Dennis Bermudez vs. Max Holloway from UFC 160.

Mike Pyle defeated Rick Story via split decision (29-28 x2, 28-29)

I know some fans thought Story was a the victim of a robbery in this one, but I didn't have much a gripe with giving the nod to Pyle. After a dominating first round, Story just couldn't put Pyle back in danger. Story's arguable 10-8 first round just couldn't convince the judges he had done enough throughout the entire fight. Pyle's legend only grows as he notches another come from behind, underdog performance.

Dennis Bermudez defeated Max Holloway via split decision (29-28x2, 28-29)

A bit of a surprising decision as most fans believe Holloway had clearly done enough to take this fight. Holloway looked to have taken at least the first two rounds, but the judges may have given more credence to a big Bermudez takedown near the end of the second. Max appeared to be enjoying a sizable striking advantage, which clearly dictated how Bermudez approached the third round. Scoring several takedowns and landing elbows from the top position, Bermudez easily won the third round, en rout to a split decision.
