What have these two done recently?
How did these two get here?
Khabib maintained his undefeated record with a 3rd round submission win over former WEC lightweight Kamal Shalorus in his UFC debut. The Russian then took on established 155 lbs veteran Gleison Tibau at UFC 148, and while the fight itself was far from exciting, Nurmagomedov won a decision. His best performance to date came this past January in Brazil, as he knocked down Thiago Tavares and finished him with hard elbows from the top to earn a 1st round KO in enemy territory. At just 24 years old he's considered one of the more impressive young talents in the stacked lightweight division.
Trujillo entered the UFC on a four fight winning streak, but his debut came under unusual circumstances. First, Trujillo was supposed to fight Tim Means at UFC 151, but when the PPV was scrapped, the fight was moved to UFC on Fox 5. Means slipped and knocked himself out in the sauna, and Trujillo ended up fighting Marcus LeVesseur the following day. Abel punished the former college wrestling standout and stopped him with knees to the body. The Blackzilians member is in the underdog role tonight.
Why should you care?
Well it got pretty heated at the weigh-ins, so this could shape up to be an all-out war.
