Cote put on an all out war in his 170 lb. debut against Voelker.

Former 185 lb. contender Patrick Cote (19-8) made his Welterweight debut in the UFC 158 FX prelims feature bout with a unanimous decision win over Bobby Voelker. Cote improved to 2-1 in his most recent UFC run while Voelker dropped his debut in the promotion.

Cote and Voelker put on a back and forth war in their 15 minute fight. Throughout the fight, both men landed big blows, but neither backed down for a second. In the end, the judges all scored the fight 29-28 for Cote.

What was the high point of the fight?

In the closing minute of the second round, Voelker and Cote abandoned their defenses and went all out exchanging blows.

Where do they go from here?

Despite having once contended for the Middleweight title, Cote is very much a middle of the pack fighter. He definitely brings it every time and I expect the UFC to put him in matches based on excitement rather than divisional relevance.

In most cases, I'd say a Streikeforce fighter losing their UFC debut would be in danger of being cut. However, after the show Voelker put on, I'd say there's little chance of that happening.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Watch it now. It was a great fight where both fighters put everything on the line
