UFC 158 results recap: T.J. Dillashaw vs. Issei Tamura

USA TODAY Sports

After a slow first round, Dillashaw picked up an impressive knockout in the opening minute of round 2.

In the second fight of the UFC 158 Facebook prelims, T.J. Dillashaw (7-17-4) knocked out Issei Tamura () in the second round of their bout. T.J. extended his win streak to 3 fights. He's now 3-1 as a UFC fighter. Tamura has lost his last two UFC fights and sports a UFC record of 1-2.

The Bantamweights got off to a slow start in round 1. Dillashaw got some solid shots in, but still left the crowd booing as they worked against the cage midway through the round. All that changed in round 2, though. Immediately after the bell rang, T.J. landed a left knee to the head that dropped Tamura and followed up with some brutal ground and pound to get the stoppage at 0:26.

What was the high point of the fight?

The finishing sequence, obviously. The knee from Dillashaw was timed beautifully and landed perfectly.

Where do they go from here?

T.J. Dillashaw has now won three consecutive fights since coming in second place in The Ultimate Fighter 14 tournament. Now that he's gotten a few marks in the win column, it's time for him to start moving up the 135 lb. ladder.

It's very possible that Issei Tamura will be looking for a new employer after Saturday night's fight. The loss to Dillashaw was his second since winning his UFC debut and both were by violent KO.

Watch it now, later, or never?

You'll want to watch the finish now, but no one will blame you if you fast forward through round 1.
