Curse you, Chris Weidman. Instead of seeing a bout that would likely have decided the next contender for UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, now we get a bout that isn't quite as meaningful. But it should still be exciting, and offers the chance for a new man to push his way into the title picture. Tim Boetsch (16-4, 7-3) faces off with Constantinos Philippou (11-2, 1 NC, 4-1 UFC).

Boetsch is currently ranked at number four at middleweight on the Bloody Elbow Meta-Rankings, while Philippou is at 24. A win for Costa will rocket him up the rankings, while Boetsch would just be treading water with the W. This middleweight UFC 155 fight will be the third fight of the main card, and will be shown pay-per-view. The PPV begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

How do these two stack up?

Boetsch: 31 years old | 6'0" | 74" reach
Philippou: 33 years old | 5'11" | 73" reach

What have these two done recently?

Boetsch: W - Hector Lombard (SD) | W - Yushin Okami (TKO) | W - Nick Ring (UD)
Philippou: W - Riki Fukuda (UD) | W - Court McGee (UD) | W- Jared Hamman (KO)

How did these two get here?

Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch has been a beast since he dropped to middleweight. After going 3-3 at 205 in the UFC over two stints, the big man dropped to 185 and has defeated every one of his opponents thus far. A come-from-behind win over perennial contender Yushin Okami made everyone stand up and notice, and a close-split decision win over former Bellator champ Hector Lombard strengthened his claim on a possible title shot. He was scheduled to meet Weidman, but will instead face off with Philippou.

Constantinos "Costa" Philippou came up in Ring of Combat, and made his UFC debut in a 195 lb. catchweight bout with Nick Catone. He dropped that bout, but the boxer has picked up four wins in a row since then and has crept into the top 25. This is undoubtedly the biggest fight of his career and a win will launch him into contender status immediately.

Why should you care?

Barbarian vs. Boxer. What's not to like?
