Bloody Elbow presents their UFC 154 fight card primer, previewing all the action at UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit. Here, we look at Mark Hominick vs. Pablo Garza.

UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit opens with a potentially very exciting fight. Mark Hominick (20-11 MMA; 3-3 UFC) faces Pablo Garza (11-3 MMA; 2-2 UFC) in this Featherweight fight. The UFC 154 PPV airs this Saturday night, November 17, with the main card beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT.

This is a good choice for the PPV opener. The Canadian crowd should be excited for Hominick, plus both fighters tend to deliver fireworks. The real question will be if Hominick can snap his losing streak and walk out with a win. If he does, expect a very happy crowd to start the show. But Garza has the tools to play spoiler for sure. If he does spoil the party, there will be a lot of disappointment in the Bell Centre.

How do these two stack up?

Hominick: 30 years old | 5'8" | 68.5" reach
Garza: 29 years old | 6'1" | 73" reach

What have these two done recently?

Hominick: L - Eddie Yagin (SD) | L - Chan Sung Jung (KO) | L - Jose Aldo (UD)
Garza: L - Dennis Bermudez (UD) | L - Dustin Poirier (Sub) | W - Yves Jabouin (Sub)

How did these two get here?

Mark "The Machine" Hominck is a gifted stand-up fighter with over 10 years pro experience. He's always had mixed success, as his record shows, but lately, he's really struggled. He's winless since January 2011, having dropped 3 in a row. During that time, his long-time manager, mentor, and friend Shawn Tompkins passed away as well. He is in desperate need of a win here, and I don't think it's unfair to say his job likely depends on it.

More on UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit

The lanky Pablo Garza had a brief run on The Ultimate Fighter: Team St. Pierre vs. Team Koscheck, losing to Michael Johnson. He turned things around with a pair of stunning wins in his first two UFC fights - one via flying knee KO, one via flying triangle choke submission. Since those wins, he's 0-2, though both losses have come against tough opposition.

Why should you care?

Win or lose, both Hominick and Garza entertain, and this should be a good, fast paced match-up to get the show going.
