It hasn't been the biggest upheaval in UFC history, but TUF Nations is certainly feeling the injury bug. First Steve Bosse went down to injury (to be replaced by Sean O'Connell) only to retire a few days later. Then, just last week, Shayna Baszler was forced from the card. Her opponent, Sarah Kaufman, will now meet Amanda Nunes. Now, a little more than one week away from the event, Evan Dunham has been forced out of his bout against Mark Bocek with an undisclosed injury. According to MMAJunkie the UFC will be pursuing a last minute replacement.
The UFC shouldn't have much trouble tracking down a fighter to step in on late replacement. Even if none among their 90 active lightweights are willing to jump at the opportunity, the massive field of available fighters at 155 lbs should mean that someone is eager for a short notice callup. If not, the card will be reduced to 10 fights, including the TUF finale participants, which at this point, only appears to be the tournament finalists.
As the nature of Dunham's injury was not given, no timetable is known for his return. But, stay tuned to Bloody Elbow as we'll be sure to have more news and updates as they become available. TUF Nations takes place on April 16th in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada and will be headlined by a middleweight bout featuring Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy.
