Bellator Fighting Championships today confirmed the signing of ex-UFC welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida (11-5). Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but "Zenko" will debut for the promotion on September 30th against an as-yet-unannounced opponent. The winner of the bout will be slotted into Bellator's Season 4 welterweight tournament. Yoshida was originally rumored to face Dan Hornbuckle on August 19th, but visa issues forced the Judo black belt out of the bout. Hornbuckle will instead meet another former UFC'er, "Bad" Brad Blackburn.

Ryo Chonan updated his blog last night: "I'm surprised to hear about Yoshida. His opponent, Karo Parisyan, backed out at last minute. Karo said he was in the best shape when I talked to him yesterday. I wonder what happened to him. Yoshida's mom came here to see his fight all way from Japan and he had a hard time dieting for this fight. I'm sorry for him. Charged with a role as the only fighter who represents Japan, I'm going to have a great performance tomorrow." Translation from SukiMMA
