A few hours before Manny Pacquiao won his 8th world championship in as much weight divisions, Royce Gracie was a surprise guest at URCC 18: Relentless this weekend, and was witness to the crowning of two new Filipino MMA champions. Submission Sport's Froilan Sarenas remained unbeaten as he choked out Jerry Legaspi in the first round to win the URCC Middleweight championship that UFC fighter, Zhang Tie Quan just vacated. In the co-headlining bout of the evening, Eric Kelly (5-0) defeated Saipan's Nate Flores by rear naked choke to capture the Featherweight title. Young prospects George Lusadan (4-0) of Lakay Wushu and Alvin Ramirez (3-2) of Yaw Yan also impressed on the night, with both pinweights (119 lbs) earning exciting first round submission victories. Wushu Expert, and current URCC Champ, Kevin Belingon (8-0) remained unbeaten as he submitted the 2008 Beijing Sanda Champ, Bayin Dalai (4-2) in the first round of their LegendFC 3 bout in Hong Kong this past weekend. What's next for the talented Filipino? Wushu Expert, and current URCC Welterweight Champ, Eduard Folayang (8-1), Won the Lightweight Super-Fight Title against the previously undefeated Bao She Ri Gu Leng on ESPN Martial Combat, held in Singapore. "I had a tough fight tonight, he was very quick. My last fight (video) was only a month ago so my conditioning is still good, but I still have a lot of room for improvement. Every round I persisted to win, and in the fourth round I knew I would win it. I was more prepared in this fight because I was able to execute my technique well. Wushu expert, and current URCC Welterweight Champ, Eduard "Landslide" Folayang is set to face former Muay Thai champ, Egon Racz in a lightweight match up on Martial Combat IV. Team Lakay Wushu's head coach, Mark Sangiao confirmed the news to BloodyElbow.com. He will be looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow Filipinos, Sabah Fadai, and Flyweight Champ, Kevin Belingon, who have previously won on the promotion's debut card last month.
