Raphael Assuncao has a new opponent for his bantamweight debut at UFC 134 in Rio, after a proposed bout with Darren Uyenoyama fell through due to Uyenoyama's contract dispute with Shooto.
Assuncao will now face veteran Brazilian fighter and Nova Uniao team member, Johnny Eduardo (25-8), who's on an 11-fight winning streak, and has a career spanning over 15 years. The booking was announced by the UFC's Brazilian office on Twitter tonight.UFC 134: Rio coverage
Sherdog reports that Canada-based featherweight standout, Antonio "Pato" Carvalho (13-4), has signed with the UFC and will face Yuri Alcantara (25-3), at UFC 134 in Rio. Carvalho was ranked the #1 featherweight prospect on BloodyElbow.com's 2011 World MMA Scouting Report.
Alcantara was initially reported to be facing Mackens Semerzier, but that bout was apparently scrapped.

The UFC's resident leg-mangler, Rousimar "Toquinho" Palhares confirmed to Tatame that he'll fight at UFC: Rio in August, but an opponent has not yet been confirmed.

UFC 1 competitor, Art Jimmerson, has taken up training BJJ in a gi at the UFC Gym in Rosemead, California, where he serves as a boxing instructor. Still rocking his famous one glove, Jimmerson has recently campaigned for a rematch with Royce Gracie at UFC: Rio this August.
