Within the confines of the UFC middleweight division, proven knockout artist and The Ultimate Fighter season one contestant Chris Leben (25-6, 11-5 UFC) will look to extend his impressive streak of three straight victories to four as he battles former WEC Light Heavyweight champion Brian Stann (9-3, 3-2 UFC).
Mixed martial arts has plenty of stories that run parallel to that thinking, and the light heavyweight showdown between the once-feared rising star Brandon Vera (11-5, 7-5 UFC) and Brazilian power puncher Thiago Silva (14-2, 5-2 UFC) has some of the those overtones.
In welterweight action, The Ultimate Fighter season five winner and Cesar Gracie jiu-jitsu student Nate Diaz (13-5, 8-3 UFC) will hope to extend his winning streak to three as he battles South Korean judo player Dong Hyun Kim (13-0-1-1, 4-0-1) in a highly-relevant battle for positioning in the upper-echelon of the division.
Opening the main card at UFC 125 on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi (32-6-0-1, 1-1 UFC) will hope to ride the wave of momentum stemming from his brutal knockout victory over Tyson Griffin at UFC on Versus II as he battles blue chip wrestler Clay Guida (27-11, 7-5 UFC).
