Phil Davis discovered a gash on his shin that required 36 stitches to close, following his win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 123. The cut went unnoticed by the medical staff conducting Davis's post-fight exam, and Davis himself only noticed it later on while watching the event's headlining fights. HT: MMA Weekly

Great Moments in MMA Radio: Forrest Griffin Edition My producer Othello Bouchareb recently caught up with former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin. Like most Griffin interviews, the whole thing eventually went south. Othello's questions were probing, but asked earnestly and without malice. What he received is Griffin's customary curmudgeonly attitude. Griffin once physically threatened me (sort of) in an interview. It was my second MMA interview ever. I never released it. While I obviously respect his fighting ability and consider him to be a top talent (and hugely responsible for MMA's success in the States), his attitude remains a mystery. If he's going to agree to do PR, it sure would be helpful if he were professional. I suspect partly he hates doing PR and partly he's accustomed to the rest of the MMA media feeding him a steady diet of banal "boxers or briefs?" and "Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Sugar Smacks?" questions. Either way, the only way to do a Griffin interview is to get awkward. Mission accomplished, I suppose.

SeatGeek informs us that average resale ticket prices for UFC 123 have jumped $30 to $277 in the last 24 hours to make it by far the most in-demand UFC ticket of this fall.

Joe Lauzon discussed his upcoming UFC 123 opponent, George Sotiropoulos, on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, specifically questioning (as others have) the Australian's controversial fight attire: "I don't see how you can wear your regular fight shorts, compression shorts under that that go to your knee, then wear knee pads on both sides that go halfway down your leg, then ankle supports that go halfway up your leg and down to your toes," Lauzon said. "I don't know what the deal is with the commission, if he'll be allowed to wear those or not, but we're prepared for him either way." "We'll think about it. I don't know if it will make a huge difference, but at the same time, why give him that advantage? Maybe we'll make a formal request to not let him wear them." "I thought it was a big step up in competition, to go from a Gabe Ruediger, who didn't have the best fight history, to a George Sotiropoulos, who's undefeated in the UFC. ... I was pretty surprised. I was taken back by it a little bit. I figured he'd be fighting for the title real, real soon, and I don't see myself in that same category. Gabe Ruediger posted on his official website that he has withdrawn from his UFC 123 bout against Paul Kelly due to an injured groin: "Ive been training with injuries for this whole camp and Ive been trying to just work around them. One injury that has been giving me daily issues was a groin strain. This happened about 3 weeks ago wrestling. I was wrapping it and just enduring the pain, but Wednesday, I was back to wrestling and my groin tore all the way through."
