Dong Hyun Kim (12-0-1, 1 NC) held a press conference in Seoul last week to introduce Samsung's new "Stun Gun"-endorsed 'YA Gold' sports/energy drink. Kim mentioned a few things about what's next for him in the UFC:
- Though nothing is finalized, chances are good that Kim will next fight at UFC 104 in October. The event will be at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where there's a large Korean community. The "Stun Gun" says he'd like to fight a "big name" at this show, particularly
Jon Fitch. Kim knows he would have to be wary of Fitch's takedowns, but thinks he could win in the clinch.
- For his next bout, Kim will train at the new Team Cloud Gym in Tokyo with
Yoshihiro Akiyama, who he formed a close friendship with over the UFC 100 weekend.
- While in the States, he trained alongside such fighters as
Satoshi Ishii,
Michael Bisping,
Forrest Griffin,
Martin Kampmann and
Tyson Griffin, and also sparred with
Vitor Belfort.
- Kim also speaks highly of Team M.A.D. teammate
Myeon Ho Bae (8-4), who recently won in his DEEP debut and who Kim says will be in a major Japanese show before long.
