Royler Gracie Awarded Red and Black Belt
Jim Hannan's facebook page has posted the above picture, announcing that Royler Gracie has been awarded his Red and Black belt by his brother Rickson Gracie.
The Red and Black belt is awarded when a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu student has reached the 7th degree on his black belt. Degrees on a black belt are awarded for years spent as an instructor and take decades to earn. (more on belt rankings)
Royler Gracie is the son of BJJ co-founder Helio Gracie. Leader of the legendary grappling school Gracie Humaita, Royler won the first four BJJ Pena weight World Championships and two ADCC gold medals. He is also the coach of several world champions including Saulo Ribeiro, Leticia Ribeiro, and Beatriz Mesquita.
Congrats to Royler! He is a true master.
