Brick 26- For Those Who Have Served Earn Your Brick Join your favorite fighters, like former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt “The Terra” Serra, former UFC fighter Pete “Drago” Sell, and Ben “Killa B” Saunders of Bellator in giving back to those who served. Earn your brick! Brick 26 is a nonprofit organization based out of Long Island, NY. Brick 26 utilizes a unique annual walk/endurance run event and social networking campaigns to generate awareness and funds for all returned and returning service members no matter what their needs; financial, emotional, and physical. Brick 26 places an equal emphasis on the great needs of ALL veterans and aims to equitably distribute funds so that ALL service members in need have access to increased support. The County Executive Brick 26 Challenge will take place on August 4, 2012 in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. Those tough-enough to take on the Brick 26 Challenge will start out on a 10K road course pushed by drill sergeants, challenged by various "boot camps" and motivated by the sheer will to make it to the finish line.... Did we mention the bricks? Along the way, participants will carry with them one or five bricks... yes bricks, those dark-red, 5 pound clay bars that are used to construct much of the world we live in. Each of these bricks will be carried across the finish line and dedicated and used to build a monument in honor of all those who have served. We recognize that there are athletes (or not) at every level and our primary goal is to offer something for everyone, so the Brick 26 Challenge consists of various levels of participation ranging in difficulty. So whether you choose the 10K Brick 26 Competitive Wave or the 1 mile Straight Honor Walk, there is something for everyone and fitness level. The men and women currently serving in the military and our veterans who have returned home have been some of the biggest supporters of Mixed Martial Arts. Now it’s time for us to give back to those that have so bravely served our country. Some of the fighters that support Brick 26 are former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra, Former UFC fighter Pete “Drago” Sell, Bellator Welterweight and UG favorite Ben Saunders, Ring of Combat Heavyweight and Light heavyweight Champion and UFC newcomer Tom DeBlass, Gian Villante of Strikeforce, Ring of Combat’s Ed Truck Gordon and Tom English, famed striking coach Ray Longo, Ring of Combat Promoter and three time World Kickboxing Champion Lou Neglia, and more. On Monday, April 30th, the Nassau County Executive, Edward Mangano, will be holding a press conference for those members in the MMA community that support Brick 26, and support our veterans. Many of the aforementioned will be there, including Matt Serra and Drago. All are welcome to attend.
