Brick 26- For Those Who Have Served Earn Your Brick Join your favorite fighters, like former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt “The Terra” Serra, former UFC fighter Pete “Drago” Sell, and Ben “Killa B” Saunders of Bellator in giving back to those who served. Earn your brick! Brick 26 is a nonprofit organization based out of Long Island, NY. Brick 26 utilizes a unique annual walk/endurance run event and social networking campaigns to generate awareness and funds for all returned and returning service members no matter what their needs; financial, emotional, and physical. Brick 26 places an equal emphasis on the great needs of ALL veterans and aims to equitably distribute funds so that ALL service members in need have access to increased support. The County Executive Brick 26 Challenge will take place on August 4, 2012 in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. Those tough-enough to take on the Brick 26 Challenge will start out on a 10K road course pushed by drill sergeants, challenged by various "boot camps" and motivated by the sheer will to make it to the finish line.... Did we mention the bricks? Along the way, participants will carry with them one or five bricks... yes bricks, those dark-red, 5 pound clay bars that are used to construct much of the world we live in. Each of these bricks will be carried across the finish line and dedicated and used to build a monument in honor of all those who have served. We recognize that there are athletes (or not) at every level and our primary goal is to offer something for everyone, so the Brick 26 Challenge consists of various levels of participation ranging in difficulty. So whether you choose the 10K Brick 26 Competitive Wave or the 1 mile Straight Honor Walk, there is something for everyone and fitness level. The men and women currently serving in the military and our veterans who have returned home have been some of the biggest supporters of Mixed Martial Arts. Now it’s time for us to give back to those that have so bravely served our country. Some of the fighters that support Brick 26 are former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra, Former UFC fighter Pete “Drago” Sell, Bellator Welterweight and UG favorite Ben Saunders, Ring of Combat Heavyweight and Light heavyweight Champion and UFC newcomer Tom DeBlass, Gian Villante of Strikeforce, Ring of Combat’s Ed Truck Gordon and Tom English, famed striking coach Ray Longo, Ring of Combat Promoter and three time World Kickboxing Champion Lou Neglia, and more. On Monday, April 30th, the Nassau County Executive, Edward Mangano, will be holding a press conference for those members in the MMA community that support Brick 26, and support our veterans. Many of the aforementioned will be there, including Matt Serra and Drago. All are welcome to attend. The Brick 26 County Executive MMA Press Conference Monday, April 30th 11:00 AM Eisenhower Park, Veterans Plaza in Mineola, NY Field 6 With your participation, support, fundraising, and enthusiasm, we know we are destined to make an immense impact on the lives of needy Veterans. They have carried us and our freedom for years... isn't it the least we can do to carry a brick (or 5) for them? Ring of Combat 36 Results - June 17, 2011 It was a perfect night for the Serra-Longo Fight Team at Ring of Combat 36 Friday. The usual Tropicana stomping grounds in Atlantic City saw host to four fighters from the powerhouse Long Island fight camp, all of them picking up big wins. In the evening's main event, Pete "Drago" Sell's return to ROC seemed like a lost cause initially, as defending Welterweight Champion Eliah Harshbarger threw him around relentlessly and gave him an ugly mouse under his left eye. But Drago came charging back in the second round, securing top position then passing for an incredible reverse triangle straight armbar combo submission to claim the belt as the partisan crowd erupted in jubilation. 10th Ranked Lightweight in the 2011 World MMA Scouting Report Al Iaquinta dueled with Brazilian prospect Gabriel Miglioli in one of the most intense ROC fights ever, both showing amazing technical ability and heart for prospects with a combined seven pro fights worth of experience. The rangier Miglioli controlled the first round, dropping Iaquinta with punches for a near-KO and applying a couple close submission attempts. Round two turned into a complete brawl, with Migloli trading short punches to the head and body for Iaquinta's jabs and high right roundhouse kicks. In the final round, Iaquinta seemed in complete control with a damaging ground and pound attack, but a fading Miglioli somehow escaped, landed a hard knee to the body and then managed his own takedown. Iaquinta, who never stopped attacking despite taking hard shots in every round, scored a reversal in the dying seconds and ended the fight taking Miglioli's back. In the end, the judges rewarded Iaquinta's tenacity with a close split decision victory. Three round bantamweight and flyweight title bouts were featured as the night's two co-main events. In 135lb action, Team Bombsquad product Aljamain Sterling captured the belt in just his third pro fight, taking a convincing split decision over Claudio Ledesma. And in the 125 title affair, Sean Santella was awarded a unanimous decision despite being exhausted for the final two rounds and having his takedown game completely shut down in the second half of the fight by former Strikeforce featherweight Tito Jones. Jones was visibly displeased upon hearing that he had failed to win a single round on any of the judge's scorecards. Quick Results: Pete Sell def. Eliah Harshbarger via R2 Submission (Reverse Triangle Straight Armbar) Aljamain Sterling def. Claudio Ledesma via R3 Decision (Split) Sean Santella def. Tito Jones via R3 Decision (Unanimous) Al Iaquinta def. Gabriel Miglioli via R3 Decision (Split) Casey Manrique def. Brandon Saling via R2 Submission (Rear Naked Choke) James Jenkins def. Jason McLean via R3 Decision (Unanimous) Eddie Gordon def. J.A. Dudley via R3 Decision (Unanimous) Mike Prokop def. Brian Smiley via R1 Technical Submission (Guillotine Choke) Frankie Perez def.
