Kang then asks promoter Tom Huggins. "I can't eat, so I don't really care," answers Glover Teixeira. Exchanges like this are the backbone of Impact FC press conferences. The press conference drags. Teixeira explains his visa situation, saying that he may have to wait up to 27 months for his green card. Former TUF cast member Jeremy May, sporting a quasi-Clay Guida mop, discusses the orphanage he and his father have opened, despite the fact May now looks like a cast member from "Jackass." K-1 convert Peter Graham says that it's normally his M.O. to talk trash, but because opponent Jim York's father is hospitalized after having a stroke, he's opted to refrain. Pens click, cell phones ring, and conversations in Portuguese create a symphony. Suddenly, something pierces my chest. Denis Kang has hurled a paper airplane made from an Impact FC flier at me. "It's a fighter plane," Kang says. I can't tell if he's intentionally making a pun or not.

Ken Shamrock Will Face Pedro Rizzo, Not Mark Coleman: "The Shamrock-Coleman matchup had been discussed but no agreement was reached. The July 17 card is one of three Impact FC events happening the same month in Australia and New Zealand. Murilo "Ninja" Rua has been booked to fight Jeremy May on July 3, and Paul "Semtex" Daley is in discussions to compete on the same card. UFC awarded $175,000 in attorneys' fees in Ken Shamrock case: "Earlier in the year, Shamrock had unsuccessfully brought suit against Zuffa challenging various provisions of his UFC contract during a two day trial before Judge Johnson. As a result of today’s decision, Shamrock was ordered to pay Zuffa nearly $175,000 in related attorney fees, costs and expenses." HT: ufc.com

Ken Shamrock loses legal battle against the UFC, UFC wants fees: "Ken Shamrock, who claimed Zuffa had violated certain contractual provisions of his final fight agreement, was demanding several hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation he claimed was due and owing from the UFC. Following a trial before the Honorable Susan H. Johnson, the Court entered a sixteen page written decision concluding that Ken Shamrock was to take nothing by way of its Complaint filed April 15, 2008, and judgment is rendered in favor of Zuffa, LLC dba the Ultimate Fighting Championship." "The UFC has a clear and unambiguous attorney fee clause in all of its contracts with fighters to the effect, that in the event a fighter loses any contractual challenge in court, that fighter will be responsible for paying our fees.
