The worldwide featherweight rankings were shaken up this weekend as Hatsu Hioki upset Nova Uniao knockout artist Marlon Sandro yesterday at Sengoku: Soul of Fight. Not to be outdone, Hiroyuki Takaya proved that he was the better fighter in a rematch of the DREAM Featherweight Grand Prix final as he edged out Bibiano Fernandes in a narrowly contested affair at K-1's Dynamite!! 2010 New Year's Eve card.

In what turned out to be a surprisingly one-sided affair, Japanese lightweight kingpin Tatsuya Kawajiri dominated Josh Thomson over the course of three rounds with impressive wrestling ability and smothering control on the ground.

In one of the more drawn out battles on the K-1 Dynamite!! 2010 New Year's Eve card, former UFC fighter Jason High used superior wrestling and strength to out work and out grapple Japanese legend Hayato "Mach" Sakurai.

In an one-sided welterweight title showdown, Kazushi Sakuraba was unable to make it out of the first round after DREAM Welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis punched Sakuraba's inflated cauliflower ear, causing it to spew blood.

As most fans expected, Alistair Overeem proved once again that he is the alpha male of MMA's heavyweight division as he made quick work of former UFC veteran Todd Duffee at K-1's Dynamite!! 2010 New Year's Eve event this morning.

When the restrictions came out regarding the DREAM/K-1 mixed rules contest between DREAM champion Shinya Aoki and K-1 MAX competitor Yuichiro Nagashima hit the wire, it was safe to say that Aoki would do anything to avoid standing with Nagashima in the opening three-minute round under K-1 rules. Aoki took that to a whole new level at K-1 Dynamite!! 2010 this morning.

Most MMA and K-1 fans didn't give former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi much of a chance when his K-1 Rules battle with Keijiro Maeda was officially announced. After all, K-1 is Kyotaro's world, and Mousasi had been busy honing his craft within the context of mixed martial arts.
