Joe Soto crowned First Bellator Champion on Friday's featherweight tournament!
After winning two previous fights to advance to the tournament finale,
Joe Soto and Yahir Reyes met in the night's main event with the winner receiving Bellator's first belt and a $100,000 bonus check.
The championship bout turned out to be a blowout. Soto, who advanced to the finale with previous wins over Ben Greer and tournament favorite Wilson Reis, dominated the first round of their bout with ground and pound and ultimately scored the fight-ending submission (via rear-naked choke) at 4:11 of the second round.
Soto, who moved to 7-0 with the victory, has now posted stoppages in six of his seven wins. Six of his seven wins have come in the past 11 months.
With the win, Soto earns a total of $175,000 for his three-fight stint in Bellator
