Former WEC lightweight champ, Jamie Varner, has joined the AMA Fight Club in New Jersey, to train alongside Jim and Dan Miller, Charlie Brenneman, Rafaello Oliveira, Ricardo Romero, and Amanda Nunes. Head trainer Mike Constantino discussed Varner on the Savage Dog Show: "We basically came to the decision that it’s in the best interest of Jamie to come here full time, and I’m willing to take on Jamie as a manager and a trainer. I think he’s extremely talented. The kid’s 26 years old, only, and you already know what he’s accomplished. By having him full-time training with all my fighters and all our trainers here at AMA and doing everything right, I truly believe that not only could he be back in the UFC shortly, he could go straight to the top and win a championship."
Former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner has left Arizona Combat Sports and will make his new home training with AMA Fight Club in New Jersey, according to MMAWeekly.com. The AMA camp boasts a bevy of notable fighters, most notably surging 155-pound contender Jim Miller. Will this lead "The Worm" to a quick return to the UFC?
Since being cut by the WEC (and, effectively, the UFC), Jamie Varner has put aside thoughts he had about quitting, even as he attends classes with a goal of becoming a physician's assistant. He's studying at Seton Hall in New Jersey, which puts him in close proximity to the AMA Fight Club, where Jim and Dan Miller also train. He still wants to fight and has been busy in smaller promotions including the Xtreme Fighting Organization, where he recently racked up a win. But, his eyes are still squarely set on a return to the UFC.

After a submission loss to Shane Roller (9-3) at WEC 53, which drove his record to 0-3-1 in his last four fights, former 155-pound WEC champion Jamie Varner (16-5-2) has been released by Zuffa, according to Punch Drunk Gamer.
