Wushu Expert, and current URCC Champ, Kevin Belingon (8-0) remained unbeaten as he submitted the 2008 Beijing Sanda Champ, Bayin Dalai (4-2) in the first round of their LegendFC 3 bout in Hong Kong this past weekend. Wall Street Journal looks at MMA in Hong Kong, China. I don't pretend to be a China expert, but I've been to Hong Kong and it's a dramatically different beast than mainland China. The differences are as cultural as they are financial and they are rather significant. The UFC, if and when they ever do, is far more likely to hold their first Chinese event in Hong Kong than anywhere else in the country, if for no other reason than the amount of disposable income in households. I'm not using this to draw any larger implications. The event is too small and the window into what's going on too narrow to really take a peak. But it is worth taking inventory of any MMA developments in the country, no matter where they take place. UPDATE: A reader who has lived in Hong Kong shares their view and argues, quite rightly, Macau might be a more likely first destination for the UFC than Hong Kong.
